Pump it up…

Tonight members worked on pumping up their skills with water ops. For new members this meant deployment and operations of portable water supplies, while experienced staff worked with pump operations.

Over the course of their probationary period new members will obtain over 180 hours of book and hands on training in various medical and fire subjects.

If you see firefighting in your future, message our Facebook page to setup a meeting.

New Pagers

We’d like to thank Illinois American Water for the recent grant we were awarded. Without support from local businesses like this many departments across the nation would continue operating with outdated and unsafe equipment. As a small fire district with no room to grow we often rely on donations and grants from outside organizations to fund upgrades to many outdated pieces of equipment.

Check out the departments awarded by Illinois American Water this year here.

If you interested in helping support events or equipment please visit our donations page.

Wildland Training
Wildland Principles

EMT class is complete and we’re starting a new path as we move through summer. With all of the dry weather recently we took this opportunity to practice some wildland principles, including pump and roll with our engine. While wildland firefighting isn’t something we use often, the principles transition to many of our other calls types. If this seems like something you’d be interested in venture over to https://schaefervillefire.com/apply-here/ for more information.

Students in the EMT class have hit the half way point tonight, and will begin practical’s in the Emergency Room over the next few weeks. Tonight was pediatric emergencies and child birth.

Members not in the EMT class have been working on pump training and attending off site trainings through the Illinois Fire Service Institute. Offsite trainings allow members to get live fire training in a controlled environment.
